About the artworkMeriç Algün has created a range of works that discuss identity, cultures, languages and bureaucracies. In the graphic triptych Becoming European dates are stamped in columns. The dates, which refer to the artist’s trips in and out of the EU, are printed in various colours that represent the passenger’s status according to the Swedish Board of Immigration, under terms such as “Temporary Residence Permit” or “Decision Pending”.
