About the artworkWith blue paint, the sky is formed into two breasts and the earth into three, symbolising a kind of cyclical story of creation and renewal. Louise Bourgeois views the body as a landscape imbued with emotion and memory, where these forms serve as metaphors for intimacy and belonging. Her work explores central themes such as the body, identity and psychological vulnerability. Although influenced by Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism, she remained independent from established artistic movements. Her art reflects on memory, femininity and personal experience within a broader human context, with each form and line expressing both fragility and resilience.
