About the artworkIn 2000 Jörgen Svensson organised the art project Public Safety in Skoghall, a factory town in Värmland, Sweden. In collaboration with artists Alfredo Jaar, Esther Shalev-Gerz and Paco Ca, he created works that related to the town, in various ways. In Two American Policemen, Jörgen Svensson invited two American police officers from Phoenix, Arizona to Skoghall. It was the police officers's first trip abroad. For two weeks they patrolled the town in their uniforms. Many people regarded the two policemen as movie stars, the media covered their activities and many people asked for their autographs. The police officers were not armed during the Skoghall project.
