About the artworkLG Lundberg's photorealistic painting from a 1930s advertisement is seductive. But who is she, the angelic woman? Aimée Semple McPherson was a widely famous lay preacher and media celebrity. She founded her own church, which now has more than five million members, and travelled all over the American continent in a bus bearing the legend 'Where will you spend eternity?'. McPherson was the first woman in the USA to start her own radio station. Close-up technique, inspired by Antonioni's legendary film Blowup from 1966, conveys a cinematic quality that combines the atmospheres of Hollywood and religious fervour. In Neon Light modern consumer patterns appear to form a holy union, whether it concerns religious issues, fashion or soap adverts.
