About the artworkBjörn Lövin's works could be described as examinations of existential and social systems. 441 comes from an installation, Mr P's Moneys and Infinite Consumer, which were shown at Moderna Museet in 1971. The number is the amount in Swedish kronor which an assembly-line worker had left over after paying the bills, according to a Swedish government report published in 1969. In Lövin's work we meet Mr P and Dr Löwenskjöld. In their contacts with corporations such as Konsum and ILAC, they personify the man in the system, the individual in relation to corporativism and multinational empires. By building whole environments that visitors can move inside, Lövin reveals the similarities between the art museum and the department store.
