About the artworkKjartan Slettemark’s poodle costume is no ordinary sculpture. It is a reminder of a series of unique performances. What is left is the costume, a couple of films and photographs and the stories from those who were there. In March 1975, Slettemark performed as a poodle at the opening of the new Kunsthalle in Malmö, and was quickly ejected by the police. This apparently innocuous dog thereafter appeared as an infiltrator and alter ego for the artist on unforgettable occasions. Slettemark, dressed as poodle, submitted himself as a work of art to the yearly Spring show at the Liljevalch gallery. In 1976 in New York, people were invited to "Vote Poodle!" in the American presidential elections.
