About the artwork"Head in Green" is one of the few purely cubist works in Gösta Adrian-Nilsson's oeuvre. The painting stands somewhere between facet cubism, the initial phase of the movement, and the later synthetic cubism. The subject is discernible, but the colour scale is simplified and unnaturalistic. Colours are limited to shades of green, black and white. "Head in Green" is undoubtedly one of the earliest Swedish cubist paintings.
