Landskapet

The Landscape is a contract between Moderna Museet and Kultivator, an experimental organic farming and art cooperative on Öland. The cooperative is responsible for increasing biodiversity on the land it leases. There are two copies of the contract. One, “attested” by soil from the leased land, is displayed in this case. The other copy is kept at Kultivator’s farm, in a display case that is continuously filled with materials and objects from the activities in the landscape. The contract spans five years and when it expires in 2026, the museum will receive a new glass box containing material from the land. The Landscape can be viewed as a performance in which the artists' actions represent the Öland landscape. The group's practice combines artistic research with developments in alternative farming methods.
