About the artworkImagine entering inside a book and stepping down to the floor below. On the landings between staircases, you can visit different parts of the book, like a metaphor for how we experience different possible worlds when we read. In Room Ledger XII, Lina Nordenström has modelled architectural rooms that can also represent the alternative exhibition spaces offered by artists’ books. The word ledger also refers to the records of bookings kept by hotels. O Composition consists of the letter O in many different sizes, clinging together like cell clusters above the surface. Nordenström plays with notions of language and its structure – often using words with several meanings (homographs), which makes it entirely reasonable to ask oneself if the composition relates to o- as a negative prefix in Swedish, equating to un- in English.
