About the artworkThe main protagonist in this film is a snow-covered mountain range. Until three years ago, this place – the southern tip of mount Kebnekaise – was the highest point in Sweden. The melting ice cap has changed all that. Viewers can follow the shifting light as it dances across the snowy mountainous plains. How the mighty volume changes in relation to the sun’s position in the sky. In one sequence, people move like tiny ants towards the top to perform the annual measurement of the glacier. Although the heavy volume of the massif can give a sense of stability and permanence, this shrinking mountain top shows how a long geological era is currently being traversed by a short yet intensely transformative human era.
