About the artworkLike a Hindu god with many arms, this sculpture of a six-spouted coffee pot suggests many possible meanings. Coffee is poured from the pot into cups, but they soon overflow and the liquid runs into a container. A pump returns the coffee to the pot, whereupon the procedure starts over, in an eternal cycle. This work is part of The History of Goodness, which Måns Wrange worked on in 1991–1999. It explored the 1930s dream of the welfare state, where the home came to symbolise the good society. Rationalisations of everyday life through studies, norms and the introduction of standards, were made to foster good citizens with the aid of politics, but also aesthetics.
