About the artworkBella Rune’s mobile sculptures exist in the borderland between craft and technology, folk art and modernism. She sees them as extensions of the body’s relationship to the space, but also as bridges between physical and virtual sculpture. By using and redefining recognisable materials, Bella Rune explores how we experience and understand them and their processing, today and from a historical perspective. Looming awakens associations both to the Russian constructivism of the 1910s and to the experiments with form at Black Mountain College in the USA in the 1960s. In these experimental contexts, disciplines such as choreography, architecture, weaving, painting and folk art were combined, and knowledge was applied without categories or hierarchies.
