About the artworkTo help people find their way around the old pedestrian tunnels in the now demolished Slussen area in Stockholm, the tunnels were tiled in different colours in 1935. The names Gula gången, Gröna gången and Blå bodarna [Yellow Walk, Green Walk and Blue Stalls] have a history that spans from the Enlightenment to modernism. In his digital collage of images, David Molander presents a kaleidoscopic memorial over Blå bodarna and the shops that used to be there. The framework of the picture consists of the pattern resulting from a digital analysis of the place. Based on this pattern, hundreds of photographs taken between 2009 and 2021 were arranged to create temporal and spatial layers. The result is an urban Arcadia in garish, seductive colours, somewhere between documentation and fiction.
