About the artworkA table leans precariously on its edge and a broken plate lies on the floor. The room is empty of people, yet it is filled with an atmosphere that lingers. The furniture, household items and lamps have become silent witnesses to a violent event, but we are not told what happened or why. In his paintings, Mohammed Sami focuses on the objects themselves rather than the personal stories they represent. This approach enables him to avoid pointing the finger or sending overly explicit messages. Sami is one of four artists nominated for the Turner Prize 2025, which is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in the art world.
