About the artworkYou look down into an open suitcase. Two animations flank a collage of delicate flower parts in watercolour. The objects were arranged in fields to describe the future history, evolution, mutation and adaptation of the plants to human impact on their habitat where they were found. This work is one of four where Johannes Heldén meditates on and visualises fictive mutated micro-worlds containing artifacts that can reflect our times. In these field recordings from the future, he allows objects, sounds, moving images and prints to tell us about a future encounter between ecology, didactics and poetics. Heldén’s meta-narratives embrace more than just random human notions about nature. The other species also communicate in them.
