About the artworkOne theme for Inka & Niclas is nature. The subject interests them in a broader sense. Their images reveal the breathtaking views created by habitats and weather phenomena in the world, while offering resistance to the photographic tropes that such panoramas have generated throughout photographic history. By exaggerating the aesthetics of landscape photography, Inka & Niclas highlight the absurdity of nature as consumer commodity. 4K Ultra HD I was shot on a beach in Tenerife. The foam is like bright cerise cascades of pigment sprinkled on the crest of the wave, but the tinting was done at the moment the picture was taken, with pink light optically dissecting the sunset. The similarities with photoshopped screen savers and the artificial stone surface the image was transferred to, invites philosophical discussion.
