About the artworkOlle Norås’s works can be weird wigs that seem to be from the 1970s or the baroque era – shiny, black styled wire on aluminium wedges resembling tent pegs. Or paintings in gouache and gold leaf resembling Rorschach images, suggestive of incantations and enticingly open vulvas. Like artefacts from a highly-evolved but extinct civilisation. We can spot Norås images in the forest, in lichen or fungi, and realise that this was how the work came into being. One of his titles warns us to tread with care on someone’s floor, another notes that the sky is failing. The stretch between the earth’s gravitational pull and the existential universes in a human being is elastic. Rainer Maria Rilke asked in a poem if he was a falcon or a storm. The archaic element that the poem centres on is linked to Olle Norås’s spires.
