About the artworkClara Gesang-Gottowt juxtaposes a range of techniques, formats and modes of expression in her paintings. She describes her use of oil paints, for instance in "Dandelion Apricot Longing", as an intuitive approach. The process largely consists of applying, moving and removing paint. It opens up for infinite options and continues until an image arises that interests her eyes, her mind and her feelings. Coincidence and control in equal parts. Fast-drying acrylic paint of the kind used for "Window II" allows less time for changing. The technique is more rapid. Here, she adds rather than subtracts colours. Clara Gesang-Gottow sees her works as pictures of memories and dreams.
