Info
The project "Swedish Acquisitions 2021" is the largest investment ever in Swedish art in the history of the Moderna Museet. With extra funds to support the Swedish art scene because of the pandemic, the museum has purchased 373 works by 169 artists.

"Swedish acquisitions 2021" has been realized through a special grant from the government of SEK 25 million. The works are made between 1962 and 2021 and the age of the artists ranges from 27 to 91 years, active both in and outside Sweden, and in Sápmi.

A selection of the purchases will be shown in two exhibitions at the museum in 2022. The first part (5.2 - 24.4) has the title "Insights" with an artistry that deals with practices intertwined with everyday life; works that depict difficult life events, the importance of the home and paths to healing. The second part has the title "Matches" (7.5 - 14.8) with artistry that is strong in its conviction of art's ability to shake how we look at our surroundings and what is possible, beyond common ideas.

Below you can see all works purchased for "Swedish acquisitions 2021".
