CLUSTER III - Death, so adjustable
- KLUNGA III – Döden, så anpassningsbar
In CLUSTER III, numerous photographs are tersely grouped together in a monumental formation. There is no given theme or subject matter. And yet, the viewer immediately looks for narratives or links to decode. Here, the artist’s private snapshots and early works rub up against images from popular culture, news reports and art history. Rosemarie Trockel’s works may appear both playful and contradictory. She observes but draws no conclusions, is political but uninterested in polemics. Like the influential philosopher and holocaust survivor Hannah Arendt (1906-1975), she sometimes uses ancient Greece to help her understand her own times. Trockel builds entire worlds in her complex and enigmatic clusters – worlds we can all share but only the artist can fully decode.
