About the artworkSince the early 1990s Olafur Eliasson has worked on phenomena such as light, exploring the boundaries of human perception. His art is based on the expanded notion of art in the 1960s that equated the process and the actual concept with other artistic materials. He is concerned with the most fundamental aspects of the encounter with art - with perception, with the experience through the senses. In 2006, he transformed Malmö Konsthall into a light installation, with an intricate play between daylight and artificial light of varying temperatures. In Blue versus Yellow, the space is defined by a simple but sophisticated play with complementary colours. A blue effect filter that revolves slowly around its own axis creates a miniature solar system.
