About the artworkA long, bendy plastic tube hangs limply through a circle made of the same material. Both tubes are expertly wrapped in thick rope. The closed circle contrasts with a hanging tube, and the work resembles a drawing in the air. Like most of Eva Hesse’s works, this piece is characterised by contradiction and hesitation. Despite its pronounced minimalist aesthetic, the simple and reduced design has a human imprint. As the artist puts it: "I wanted to get to non art, non connotive, non anthropomorphic, non geometric, non, nothing, everything, but of another kind, vision, sort." Eva Hesse’s career only lasted for a few years; she died of a brain tumour in 1970.
