About the artworkThe stark focus of crime scene photography is mixed with scenes we recognise from national romantic painting - melancholy landscapes and Nordic light. The monumental size of this photograph also evokes the history paintings of the 1800s. The picture leaves us with a disturbing, eerie feeling and many unanswered questions: What has happened to this woman? Is the dog a police dog or a silent witness? The title adds to the enigmatic mood of the photo.
Photographs used to be seen as true pictures of reality, but they can be just as arranged as a history painting. Annika von Hausswolff's photos are all meticulously staged.
