About the artworkThe series Our Father was created for a themed exhibition, Tiden är kort (Time is Short), in the foyer of the ABF building in Stockholm. The exhibition took place after the World Council of Churches Assembly in 1968, where church leaders from all over the world gathered to discuss the role of the church after the radical social changes of the 1960s. The pictures of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, Che Guevara’s dead body, the Vietnam War and the first moon landing document the times and comment on the many social injustices that a young generation were protesting. In accordance with contemporary efforts to find new ways of sharing and making art accessible, the image series was printed and sold in two editions in 1970 and 1980. These are the original drawings.
