About the artworkSixten Sandra Österberg is a painter, but she approaches her work like a sculptor. She models oil paint in the same way that clay or wax is kneaded, shaped and reshaped. Her creative process often begins with photographs of friends from her close circle. The paintings are both hyperrealistic and abstract at the same time. Part of a sheer sleeve might shift from wrapping skin so lifelike it seems to radiate warmth, to becoming pure, dripping paint. The viewer starts in the realm of the familiar and recognisable, but the dissolved forms open the images to new moods and interpretations.
