About the artworkThe work Ride a Cock Horse is made of furniture parts piled on each other. Together, they form lines, volumes and cavities that would not normally be associated with their original use. The title refers to the game where a child is dandled by an adult, as if sitting on a trotting or cantering horse. This new fusion cleverly illustrates an encounter between form and content, evoking a poetic and sensual experience of the unexpected that seems entirely natural. Berit Lindfeldt has always used a wide range of materials, including bronze, cement, plaster, wood, iron, rubber and foam. To explore the inherent potential and motion of these materials, she tries them on their own and in various combinations.
