About the artworkAdding to the Archive is about the search for an exhibition that hannah goldstein’s late father, the photographer Neil Goldstein, produced towards the end of the 1990s. The exhibition consisted of 17 large granite stones that Adolf Hitler had ordered for the never-built Soldatenhalle, and which remained in Bohuslän, along with 17 photographs of these stones. Researching her father’s archive, goldstein uncovered clues and eventually found all the stones, one photograph and the blue box the pictures were forwarded in. During the process, goldstein added and created a sequel to the story about the exhibition, and also began reflecting on how memories, authorship and power can be manipulated. In recent years, she has started spelling her name with lower-case letters, in homage to the American feminist and author bell hooks.
