About the artworkSignora Canedotto made her entrance into Nina Bondeson’s imagery in the early 1990s, along with computers and Photoshop. The Signora is a person who sees it as her duty to make the world a better place. Which isn’t easy. The Signora despairs. But she soon resumes her efforts, for the sake of the world and humanity. Jeremy Adagio is an obvious reference to the 19th-century philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. Both share an interest in the Western attitude to animals and their living conditions. The difference is that Jeremy Adagio has assumed the mission of combining the unparalleled olfactory capacity of dogs with man’s ability to see the consequences of their actions. In her images, Nina Bondeson’s lively imagination is coupled with humour, through the “character of the excited line”.
