About the artworkLeif Elggren is one of the more prolifically-represented artists in the Moderna Museet collection. Now, a further few key works have been acquired, together with a selection of books and CDs that are essential to understanding his artistic practice. Among these acquisitions are The Stockholm Portfolio, photographs of the yellow-and black warning pattern that Elggren appropriated in 1977, which has come to epitomise his work, and The Principle and Function of the Creative Element and its Form, which can be regarded as his autobiography. Under that Couch consists of recordings Leif Elggren made under Sigmund Freud’s famous divan, in an analytical method that runs parallel to Freud’s psychodynamic work. The acquisition also includes several drawings from the series Drawings for Fashion.
