About the artworkRasmus Ramö Streith’s installations and sculptures give the impression of chipped everyday objects marked by events that can only be guessed at. And yet, they are often clearly constructed, fake props, signs for something else. With deteriorated VHS quality, the video The Undead features eerie sets haunted by a group of characters performing catatonically repetitive movements. The soundtrack seems out of sync with what the image allows us to see, further destabilising the experience. The kinship with horror movies by Roman Polanski or Sam Raimi is obvious, along with a surrealist obsession with dream states and symbolic objects. In the gap between the familiar and the strange, between normality and absurdity, an unnerving uncanniness unfolds.
