About the artwork
Twenty-four issues of the underground magazine
PUSS were published in 1968–1974. At the height of its
popularity, its edition was around 10,000 copies, each
magazine comprising just over twenty pages. PUSS
delivered provocative political satire with anarchist
tendencies – and quite a bit of nudity. It soon proved
impossible to distribute it through regular newsagents,
and street vendors were instead used. In addition to
its founder and editor in chief Lars Hillersberg, the
nebulous editorial team consisted of Leif Katz, Lena
Svedberg, Åke Holmqvist, Karl-Erik Liljeros, Carl
Johan De Geer, Ulf Rahmberg, Karin Frostenson,
Christer Themptander and Arne Svensson, along
with many other contributors over the years.
