Search the collection

Moderna Museet has one of Europe's finest collections of modern and contemporary art. It includes key works by Pablo Picasso, Lyubov Popova, Salvador Dalí, Meret Oppenheim, Robert Rauschenberg, Donald Judd and Irving Penn, along with works by contemporary practising artists. The Moderna Museet collection currently comprises approximately 6,000 paintings, sculptures and installations, some 45,000 watercolours, drawings and prints, and 100,000 photographs. Search the Collection is a tool that you can use to find out more about the art in the Moderna Museet collection. The entire collection is not in the database yet. We are working constantly to register new works, add data and photographs of the collection, in accordance with the Museum's digitalisation programme. We are aware that some information is missing from the database and that some facts may be incorrect. The search tool is updated every day, with new information from the Moderna Museet art database.

Search the Collection by Artist or Title

You can search for artist names or work titles by entering them in the search field. If you are unsure of the spelling, write the beginning of a name or title. The search results will include all items containing the letters you have entered. To get an exact hit on an artist name or title, put quotation marks around the search phrase: for instance, write "Man Ray" to exclude all titles containing the word "man".

Advanced search allows you to combine several search terms. This enables you to search for a specific artist combined with a specific medium or date. You can also filter your search results by using the filters shown, such as "Artwork with image", to limit your search results to works where an image is available. Other filters include On view at Stockholm/Malmö, Category, Year made, or Artist.

Images of works

When an image of the work is not shown, this is either because the work has not been photographed, or the copyright holder has not given permission to show the image. Please contact Moderna Museet's Rights & Reproductions for any questions concerning images
